Let’s Dream Big Together

My 10 Foundations of Finance

1

No matter how much money you have, always have a spending plan. You want to assign your dollars a job, this way you will always know where you stand every month.

2

Once a year check your entire credit report for irregularities and know your credit score. Know all your investments (IRAs and not). Know all your debts. With facts you will have a clear picture of your money situation and where you stand. You can request a free credit report from http://www.freecreditreport.com or the credit reporting agencies such as Experian, Equifax or TransUnion.

3

Be intentional to purchase fewer things. Focus on quality, versatility and even multiple uses.

4

Write out your long-term goals and dreams. Perhaps create a Vision Board, images are powerful. Look at your spending in terms of reaching your goals to help make day to day decisions. An overpriced multi-name coffee drink every day or first class to Italy in one year? Chao Bella!!

5

Treat yourself, spa day anyone! and splurge as part of your financial life. Treating them as a special indulgence once in awhile makes them more exciting. Also, by including the treat in your spending plan it doesn’t mess with your overall plans.

6

Learn how to cook, repair, and make things for yourself when possible. YouTube has an endless choice of videos to whatever you want to learn. Recently I learned to strip wallpaper and texture a wall with the help of YouTube.

7

Diversify! Always have a fully funded emergency fund and a Plan B for the curve balls life throws at us. If you’re able to have a side hustle, go for it. Extra money for savings or payoff the debt.

8

Ask yourself “where do I want to be in 6 months, 2 years and 10 years”? Your next question is, “what can I do today to make it happen”?

9

Happiness is all around you each day. Work with passion because you love what you do. Give yourself options, not more stuff.

10

Give yourself grace! Perhaps over a holiday weekend you spent a bit more than you should have. Or you had a surprise visit from a dear friend. Don’t give up! Adjust your numbers and keep moving towards your goals.
